Course Specification

Course Objectives :

To provide a full understanding of the elements of MRPII, Manufacturing Resource Planning, and how they should fit together.
To realise the stages that will be necessary in the implementation plan for such a project.
To fully prepare personnel for software package training, such that the general principles are well understood before the software training is commenced.
To prepare people for their role in project and task teams.
To prepare personnel for the development of the Conference Room Pilot.
To provide sufficient detail on the mechanics of the calculations, such that the flow of data through the system is well understood, and can be related to the software being implemented.

Course Content :

A review of the elements of MRPII, how they fit together,
          and the performance measures that are needed.
The basic data that is needed for MRPII to work,
          the importance of data accuracy, and how it may be achieved.
Master Planning - a review of top level planning, followed up by
          Master Production Scheduling, Rough Cut Capacity Planning, and Final Assembly Scheduling.
Material Requirements Planning, including a manual exercise.
Factory Simulation - create a model factory environment, and make a product.
Capacity Requirements Planning, including a manual exercise.
Executing the Plans -
          Purchasing Management
          Shop Floor Control
          Financial Management
          The newer philosophies.
A review of the necessary ingredients for success, and identification of constraints.
Conclusions and Course Evaluation.
Quiz questions as the course proceeds.

Course Duration :

3 days.

Recommended for :

The personnel who will be involved in the detail of putting together implementation plans, in project teams, or task teams, those who will attend detailed software training, and those who will be involved in the development of the Conference Room Pilot, in which a model of the company is developed to show how the software will be used to achieve business objectives.

Prerequisites :

A broad understanding of the workings of a manufacturing concern, and a general appreciation of the concepts of MRPII.
A general understanding of the concepts of manufacturing, and the organisation and running of a manufacturing concern.
Attendance at the Business Principles & MRPII Overview course, or a good understanding of the content thereof.
